FOX ESS CQ16 - floor-standing LiFePO4 battery block 16.7 kWh.
Description FOX ESS CQ16
FOX ESS CQ16 is a floor-standing 16.7 kWh LiFePO₄ battery block. It is the largest single module in the CQ series: it holds as much energy as two and a half CQ7 modules while remaining one device. Operating voltage is 51.2 V, weight 128 kg, dimensions 390 × 810 × 235 mm, warranty 120 months.
Fewer blocks mean fewer connections
The main advantage of a large module is not the capacity figure but the simplification of the system. Reaching the same 16.7 kWh with smaller blocks takes two or three enclosures, and that means two or three times as many power connections, communication cables and points that can loosen over time.
Every contact in a power circuit is a potential hot spot. Having fewer of them means a simpler installation, less work for the electrician and fewer reasons for a service call a few years into operation.
Tower format and floor space
The module is only 390 mm wide and 810 mm tall. This is a vertical format designed to stand in the corner of a plant room or along a wall. A depth of 235 mm lets it fit into a shallow recess where a wide block simply would not go.
Only floor mounting is provided — unlike the smaller modules in the series, this block cannot be hung on a wall. Its 128 kg mass explains that fully: the structure rests on its own base, and no wall should carry that load on brackets.
Important: IP20 protection
There is a significant difference here from the CQ7 modules, which are rated IP65 and can stand outdoors. The CQ16 carries IP20 protection, meaning it is intended strictly for indoor use: dry, ventilated, with no risk of moisture ingress.
That is not a shortcoming but a different purpose. The module was designed for a plant room, boiler room or utility space where proper conditions already exist. If the only place available for storage is outdoors or in a damp garage, look instead at the protected models in the range — otherwise service life will fall well short of the rated figure.
Service life and warranty
The rating is 6000 charge and discharge cycles with a 120-month warranty. Ten years of manufacturer commitment for storage in this class is a solid argument: most offers on the market stop at five.
LiFePO₄ chemistry provides thermal stability and tolerance of deep discharge. Cooling is by natural convection with no fans, so the block runs silently and needs no filter cleaning. Compliance is confirmed by IEC 62619 and UN 38.3 standards along with CE marking.
Delivery and getting it inside
A hundred and twenty-eight kilograms is not a load two people carry up a staircase. Before ordering, walk the delivery route and make sure doorways, corridor turns and the stair flight allow an 810 mm tall block through. The easiest case is a plant room on the ground floor with its own entrance.
The floor must be level and able to take a point load. A concrete screed handles that without question, but a timber floor in an older building is worth checking in advance.
Where this is a good fit
large private houses with above-average consumption;
small hotels, cafés and shops with refrigeration equipment;
offices that need to keep a server room and lighting running a full working day;
sites with an existing plant room where narrow width matters.
Whether one block is enough for you is answered not by comparing tables but by your actual consumption profile. Send it over — we will calculate the capacity you need and say plainly if a different format would serve you better.
