Solar panel JA Solar JAM72D40-595/MB Silver Frame — 595 W, double-sided, N-type

The JA Solar JAM72D40-595/MB bifacial monocrystalline solar panel with a capacity of 595 W is built on the DeepBlue 4.0 Pro platform - the current series of one of the largest manufacturers of photovoltaic modules in the world. This is a solution for those who do not count the "passport" power on the label, but the real output of kilowatt-hours over 25-30 years of operation of the station. The silver aluminum frame and double-glazed design make the module equally appropriate on a commercial roof, on a ground array and in bifacial systems on trackers.
Technologies and what they provide in practice
  • N-type TOPCon elements. Unlike outdated p-type silicon (PERC), the n-type material has no boron-oxygen defects, so light degradation is practically absent: in the first year the panel loses no more than 1% of power, and then up to 0.4% each year. The result at the end of the 30th year is at least 87.4% of the initial nominal value. An additional bonus of n-type is a lower temperature coefficient (−0.29%/°C in power): in the July heat, when the module surface heats up to 60 °C, losses are significantly lower than in conventional panels.
  • Bifacial generation. The back side of the elements also converts light reflected from the roof, soil, or snow. On light surfaces — white TPO, concrete, gravel, or a snowy field — additional output reaches 5–20%, depending on the albedo and installation height. These are effectively “free” kilowatt-hours without increasing the array area.
  • Double-glazed construction 2.0 + 2.0 mm. Instead of a polymer back film (backsheet), there is tempered glass on both sides. Such an assembly is better resistant to moisture, sand, ammonia and microcracks, is resistant to the PID effect and ages much more slowly. It is the symmetrical glass-glass structure that allows the manufacturer to give a 30-year warranty on the generation.
  • Multi-busbar (MBB) and 144 half-cells. The multi-contact busbar reduces the current path and resistance losses, and the half-cells heat up less and tolerate partial shading better. If the shadow from a pole or chimney covers the bottom row, the top half of the module continues to work - the entire array does not "sag" due to one shaded panel.

Operating experience

At a real station, this panel behaves predictably — and it is predictability that owners appreciate. In the morning, late evening, and on cloudy days, N-type elements “wake up” earlier and maintain higher output in low light, so the generation period is longer than that of cheaper modules. In the summer, when budget panels noticeably lose power from overheating, the JAM72D40-595/MB sags less due to its low temperature coefficient. In winter, a snowy field under the ground array illuminates the back side — and the bifacial gain partially compensates for the short daylight hours.
For installers, this is a “quiet” panel in operation: standard mounting areas, familiar 30 mm frame clamps, MC4-EVO2A connectors. After commissioning, the station on these modules does not require attention for years - there are basically no massive microcracks or “yellowing” of the back film, typical for the cheap segment, here due to the glass-glass construction. Fewer service visits - lower cost of ownership of the station.
