GoodWe GW112.6-BAT-AC-G10 is a commercial energy storage system rated 112.6 kW with a 110 kWh reserve. Why the range includes a ten per cent step
Alongside this model sits a 102.4 kW / 100 kWh version. The difference is about ten per cent, and at first glance it is unclear why a manufacturer would offer such a fine increment.
The answer lies in how power is calculated on real sites. A plant's connected capacity is a fixed figure, and storage is specified to cover the gap between it and peak consumption. When that gap comes to, say, 108 kilowatts, the smaller model does not close it while the next power tier would mean substantial overspend. An intermediate step allows the requirement to be met precisely.
Higher battery voltage — the practical consequence
Operating voltage here is 563.2 V against 512 V in the smaller model. At identical current that yields greater power, and this is exactly how the manufacturer achieved the increase without changing the enclosure dimensions.
A useful consequence follows for the owner: the current loading on the power side has not risen. Charge and discharge currents remain the same — 180 and 220 amperes. Requirements for cable, protective devices and busbars in the switchgear therefore do not change compared with the smaller version.
Active cooling and its cost
The system uses air cooling with forced airflow. This allows the rated power to be held continuously rather than in short bursts, as can happen with passive designs at high currents.
The flip side is that fans are a moving assembly, and checking them must be built into the maintenance schedule. For industrial equipment that is normal practice: an annual inspection costs far less than power lost to overheating on the hottest day of the year.
Safety for sites with people present
The built-in automatic fire suppression installation operates inside the cabinet. Together with LiFePO₄ chemistry, which resists thermal runaway, this creates a level of safety acceptable for placement on the grounds of a working enterprise.
The system is certified to IEC 62619 and UN 38.3 and carries CE marking. An operating range from −20 to +55 °C provides year-round operation without a heated room — indeed, no room is required here at all.
An hour at full power — how to read that
A hundred and ten kilowatt-hours against 112.6 kW of power means roughly an hour of discharge at maximum. The figure looks modest, but it describes a limiting case rather than a working regime.
A plant's real load sits at its peak for minutes, not hours. In practice, therefore, a 110 kWh reserve stretches considerably further than straight division suggests. If what you actually need is long autonomy rather than peak shaving, that is a different class of equipment — and it is better said before the purchase than after.
What to allow for at the design stage
a pad for 1400 kg: a level concrete base with verified load capacity;
access for a crane or manipulator, and a checked delivery route;
cable routes to the switchgear, laid before the cabinet is installed;
coordination with the network operator — storage of this rating changes the character of the site's consumption.
