GoodWe EzLogger3000C is a compact data logger for solar power plants. Housed in metal and measuring 255 × 47.5 × 173 mm, the device weighs just 800 grams, runs from a 100–240 V supply and operates from −30 to +60 °C. An IP20 rating implies installation indoors or inside an enclosure.

A logger and a controller are different devices

Confusion between them is common, and the difference is fundamental. A logger collects data from the plant's equipment, stores it and passes it on — to a monitoring system, to the owner, to the maintenance company. It observes.

A plant-level controller additionally controls: it distributes power constraints among inverters, executes dispatcher commands and changes operating modes. It intervenes.

If your plant needs to see what is happening, a logger is enough. If the network operator requires remote output regulation, a controller is needed. These tasks are often conflated at the design stage, and correcting the error means buying more equipment.

What data collection provides

• real output per inverter rather than a single total;

• early diagnosis — a drop in one device's figures stands out against its neighbours;

• fault capture at the moment of occurrence, with the error code;

• an archive that becomes evidence in warranty claims;

• remote access — plant status visible without travelling to site.

Compactness that simplifies installation

Eight hundred grams and a height under five centimetres represent an entirely different approach to installation compared with cabinet solutions. The device fits inside an existing switchgear enclosure, on a shelf in a technical cabinet, or mounts on a wall beside the inverter.

No separate structure is needed, no base preparation, no second installer. For mid-sized plants without a dedicated control room, that often proves the deciding factor.

Operating conditions

A 100–240 V supply range means the logger can be connected to any ordinary single-phase line, including the switchgear's auxiliary circuit. No separate source or converter is required.

An operating temperature from −30 to +60 °C is wider than typical office electronics, so the device will comfortably survive an unheated room in winter and a warm switchroom in summer. But the IP20 rating points unambiguously to an enclosed dry space — the open air or a damp basement is no place for it.

What to establish before ordering

The key question is how many devices the logger can serve and which inverter series it is compatible with. This information is in the manufacturer's documentation and determines suitability for your plant.

The second is how the data will reach the outside world. If the site has wired internet, the question is settled. If the plant stands in a field, an additional communication channel will be needed, and its cost should go into the budget from the start rather than after installation.
