GoodWe GW5000N-EH - single-phase hybrid inverter 5 kW.
Description GoodWe GW5000N-EH
GoodWe GW5000N-EH is a single-phase hybrid inverter rated at 5 kW with two MPPT inputs and a high-voltage lithium battery at 85–460 V (350 V nominal). Charge and discharge current 25 A, efficiency 97.6%, tracking efficiency 99.9%, generator support. IP65, passive cooling, 5-year warranty.
Five kilowatts — the commonest choice for a house
Of all hybrid inverter ratings, five kilowatts is the one ordered most often, and the reason is not fashion but the arithmetic of a typical household.
The simultaneous load of an average house rarely exceeds three or four kilowatts: refrigerator, lighting, router, television, pump, and now and then a kettle or an iron. Five kilowatts cover that set with margin, leaving room for one large consumer — an oven or a water heater.
The rating also matches a standard domestic supply well. A nominal output current of 21.7 amperes fits comfortably within a typical 25-ampere breaker with no rework and no approach to the network company.
Some twelve or thirteen panels suit it — around thirty square metres of roof. Finding that area with a decent orientation is realistic on almost any house.
A high-voltage lithium battery with a 350-volt nominal
An operating range of 85–460 volts with a nominal point of 350 is the classic high-voltage architecture. Compared with low-voltage 48-volt systems it carries concrete technical advantages.
The chief one is current. Transferring five kilowatts at 350 volts requires about fourteen amperes. In a low-voltage system the same power would demand over a hundred amperes, which means thicker cables, greater heating losses and more demanding requirements of the contacts.
The consequence for the owner is simple: a thinner and cheaper cable to the storage, less heat in the joints, higher overall system efficiency. The battery need not sit right beside the inverter but wherever there is room for it.

Twenty-five amperes of charge: how to read it
A charge current of 25 amperes at a nominal battery voltage of 350 volts gives roughly eight and a half kilowatts of exchange power. That is nearly double the inverter's own rating.
The practical conclusion: charging is never the bottleneck in this system. However much the panels deliver at midday, all the surplus energy reaches the battery without restriction from the converter.
Discharge is symmetrical — the same 25 amperes. So in the evening the battery can deliver power exceeding the inverter's rating, and the only real limit remains the five-kilowatt output itself. For a house that means the battery holds full load without sagging.
Compactness and quiet
Dimensions of 354 by 433 millimetres are about the size of an A3 sheet. The inverter does not take up half a wall in the switch room and fits easily into even a small technical recess.
Cooling is passive, with no fans. The unit works silently, and the absence of moving parts removes the most typical cause of failure in power electronics — a seized fan and the overheating that follows.
Protection class IP65 and an operating range of -25 to +60 °C permit outdoor mounting. A maximum operating altitude of 3000 metres is superfluous for lowland regions, but it indicates thermal headroom.
Control and monitoring
The standard SEMS Portal app shows generation per MPPT, battery state of charge, household consumption and history over any period. Connectivity covers both Wi-Fi and wired LAN.
For your own automation, Modbus TCP and RTU are available along with ready integration with Home Assistant. This allows a water heater or washing machine to be tied to actual generation surplus rather than to the clock.
Night monitoring keeps the link alive around the clock, so battery discharge during dark hours appears on the charts in the same detail as daytime generation.
Five kilowatts with a high-voltage battery is the most balanced solution for a private house without paying for surplus capacity. Send us your daily consumption profile: we will calculate the storage capacity required and select the panel count for two trackers.
