GoodWe GW5000-SBP-20 - single-phase hybrid inverter 5 kW.
Description GoodWe GW5000-SBP-20
GoodWe GW5000-SBP-20 is a single-phase hybrid inverter rated at 5 kW for low-voltage LiFePO₄ batteries (40–60 V). Charge and discharge current up to 100 amperes, nominal output current 21.7 A, maximum 23.9 A. Generator support, mass 19.5 kg, 5-year warranty.
Five kilowatts: the most common choice for a private house
This rating has become the de facto standard for domestic hybrid systems, and not by accident. It covers the ordinary daytime consumption of an average house with margin to spare, yet requires no reinforced supply — 21.7 amperes of nominal current fits within a standard 25 ampere connection.
Another reason for its popularity is the balance of price and capability. The step from three kilowatts to five costs noticeably less than the step from five to six or eight, while the gain in comfort between three and five is the largest anywhere in the range.
What fits into backup at five kilowatts
Running simultaneously: all household lighting, refrigerator and freezer, gas boiler with circulation pumps, router, video surveillance, television, computers, washing machine, a moderately powered borehole pump.
With caveats: a dishwasher and water heater will work, but preferably not at the same time as laundry. An air conditioner depends on its rating — an average domestic unit will pass.
Outside the backup it is worth leaving an electric cooker, an instantaneous water heater and a welding set. This is not a limitation of this particular model but a general rule: such loads drain a domestic battery faster than it can deliver any benefit.
Fast charging as a value in itself
A hundred amperes of charging at around 48 volts is roughly 4.8 kilowatts of flow into the battery, almost as much as the inverter delivers to the load.
The practical benefit shows not on a clear summer day, when there is energy to spare, but in difficult conditions. A short window of sun between clouds gets used in full. An hour of mains availability during rolling outages produces a tangible rather than a token reserve. A night tariff is exploited within two or three hours instead of across the whole night.

Selecting a battery for this model
A 100 ampere charge current places a requirement not only on the cable but on the storage itself. The battery must be able to accept such a current — otherwise it, rather than the inverter, becomes the constraint.
For most low-voltage modules that means at least two parallel blocks will be needed. A single 5 kWh module typically accepts 50–100 amperes depending on the manufacturer, and running constantly at the edge of its capability is inadvisable — it shortens service life.
When planning the system, therefore, calculate not only the capacity required in kilowatt-hours but also the permissible charge current of the chosen battery. These two parameters must be matched.
Five kilowatts suits most houses, but the specific configuration depends on your scenario. Send us a list of loads and the desired autonomy — we will select a battery with the right charge current and size the complete system.
