GoodWe GW3600N-EH - single-phase hybrid inverter 3.6 kW.
Description GoodWe GW3600N-EH
GoodWe GW3600N-EH is a single-phase hybrid inverter rated at 3.6 kW for use with high-voltage lithium batteries. Two independent MPPT inputs, battery charge and discharge current up to 25 A, generator support. Peak efficiency 97.6%, mass 17 kg, IP65 protection, 5-year warranty.
High-voltage or low-voltage battery: a difference worth understanding
This is the most important question when choosing a hybrid inverter, and getting it wrong means the battery you buy simply will not work. This model is designed for high-voltage storage — typically between one hundred and five hundred volts.
Low-voltage modules at 48 or 51.2 V, which make up most of the market, will not fit it. The reverse is equally true: an inverter designed for a low-voltage battery will not work with a high-voltage cabinet.
Why does this matter in practice? Higher voltage means lower current at the same power. Thinner cable between battery and inverter, lower resistive losses, higher overall system efficiency. The price is a narrower choice of compatible batteries and usually a higher cost for the storage itself.
Three point six kilowatts: how much backup that is
An inverter's power rating determines not how long autonomy lasts but what can run simultaneously. Three and a half kilowatts is enough for the critical group of an average house.
Realistically that covers: lighting throughout the house, refrigerator and freezer, a gas boiler with circulation pumps, router and video surveillance, television and a few sockets for domestic needs.
It does not cover: an electric cooker, an instantaneous water heater, a large electric immersion heater, a welding set or a powerful borehole pump. Those loads are best left outside the backed-up group — otherwise the inverter will trip into protection the first time one switches on.
A 25 ampere charge current and what follows from it
This figure determines how quickly the system replenishes its energy reserve. Twenty-five amperes at high voltage is a perfectly respectable rate for an inverter of this power.
In practice the limit rarely becomes a bottleneck: 3.6 kW of panels physically cannot deliver more than the inverter will pass to the battery. The question arises in only one scenario — when the battery is charged not from the sun but from the grid on a night tariff. Then charging speed determines whether the system can reach a full reserve by morning.
Generator support
A function that turns the system from 'a few hours of backup' into genuine autonomous supply. The inverter can control a generator: starting it when the battery is exhausted, charging to the required level and shutting it down.
This is critical for winter scenarios. Several overcast days in a row produce almost no generation, and without an external source the system will stop. With a generator it works in cycles: the engine runs for an hour or two, and for the rest of the time the house is supplied quietly from the battery.

Before buying a hybrid inverter it is worth settling on the battery — it is the battery that dictates the type of unit. Tell us what must run during an outage and for how many hours, and we will specify the whole set: inverter, storage and the load distribution scheme.
