GoodWe GW3600-ES-20 - single-phase hybrid inverter 3.6 kW.
Description GoodWe GW3600-ES-20
GoodWe GW3600-ES-20 is a single-phase hybrid inverter rated at 3.6 kW for low-voltage LiFePO₄ batteries. Two independent MPPT inputs, generator support, peak efficiency 97.6%. Nominal output current 16 A, maximum 16.7 A. Mass 20.8 kg, 5-year warranty.
The ES series: the classic hybrid arrangement
This model belongs to the most widespread type of hybrid inverter — with solar panels and a low-voltage battery connected directly to a single unit. All energy passes through one conversion, with no intermediate stages.
The practical advantage of such an arrangement is higher overall system efficiency compared with AC-coupled solutions, where energy is converted twice. If you are building an installation from scratch and a battery is planned from the outset, the direct hybrid scheme is almost always the better value.
Why a low-voltage battery is a sensible starting choice
Storage at 48–51.2 volts makes up the bulk of the market, and that gives a buyer three concrete advantages.
Choice. Compatible models number in the dozens — from budget to premium, from various manufacturers. There is no need to hunt for a rare item to suit one particular inverter.
Price. Per kilowatt-hour, low-voltage modules are usually cheaper than high-voltage cabinets. For a domestic system of 10–15 kWh the difference is noticeable.
Incrementality. Modules are added in parallel one at a time. Start with one, add a second six months later — the system accepts the change with no rework.
The reverse side: current and distance
An honest word about the limitation. At the same power, low voltage means high current. Where a high-voltage system manages with thin cable, a low-voltage one needs considerably thicker.
From this follows a practical installation rule: the battery should stand as close to the inverter as possible. Every extra metre of cable means both additional copper cost and energy lost to heating. If storage is planned for another room ten metres from the inverter, calculate the cross-section and the cost of that run at the design stage.
Two MPPT inputs and generator support
Independent inputs allow the panel array to be split into two groups of differing orientation, or a partially shaded section to be separated. For a hybrid system that is particularly valuable: the flatter the generation curve across the day, the better the battery fills.
Generator support covers the hardest scenario — several overcast days in a row with no mains. The inverter starts the engine, charges the battery and shuts it down, after which the house is supplied quietly from storage again.

A hybrid system is bought not in pieces but as a single solution. Tell us which loads must stay powered and where you plan to place the battery — we will select the storage, calculate the cable cross-section and say whether 3.6 kW is enough for you.
