Every year at the end of June, Munich becomes the world capital of solar energy for a few days. Intersolar Europe is the largest photovoltaics exhibition in Europe. It has been operating since 1991 and has long since grown from a highly specialized event into the main platform where manufacturers, distributors, planners and installers compare plans for the coming years. The slogan has remained unchanged for more than three decades: "Connecting Solar Business" - to unite the solar business.
For the Ukrainian market, this is not an abstract event somewhere in Europe. It is here that the inverters, panels, and storage devices that will be in warehouses and catalogs in a year or two, including ours, are first shown. So we tell you when and where the 2026 exhibition will be held, how its program is organized, and who to look for among the exhibitors.
The exhibition part of Intersolar Europe 2026 will take place from June 23 to 25 at Messe München. This year, the organizers have moved the event to a Tuesday-Thursday schedule for the first time instead of the usual Wednesday-Friday. The conference traditionally precedes the exhibition and takes place separately - on June 22 and 23 at the International Congress Center (ICM) next to the exhibition complex.
The pavilions are open from 9:00 to 18:00, on the last day, Thursday, until 17:00. The organizer is the German company Solar Promotion GmbH.
Intersolar has long ceased to exist separately. It is part of the energy hub The smarter E Europe - the largest alliance of exhibitions dedicated to energy in Europe. Four events operate simultaneously and in the same territory:
- Intersolar Europe — photovoltaics, solar power plants, solar thermal energy;
- ees Europe — batteries and energy storage systems;
- Power2Drive Europe — charging infrastructure and electromobility;
- EM-Power Europe — energy management, smart grids, building integration.
This format is convenient precisely because a solar station is rarely sold “naked” today: it immediately comes with a storage device, a car charger, and a monitoring system. At one site, you can bypass the suppliers of all these components in one day. In total, more than 2,800 companies are expected on the The smarter E Europe platform this year, and about 1,350 exhibitors directly at Intersolar. Visitors — more than one hundred thousand specialists from more than 160 countries.
The event consists of three parts: the exhibition itself, a scientific conference, and a forum in the exhibition halls.
The Intersolar Europe Conference is dedicated to the markets, technologies and financing of photovoltaic projects. The program committee is chaired by Michael Schmela from SolarPower Europe; the committee includes representatives from Fraunhofer ISE, S&P Global, Lightsource bp and the German Solar Association. The audience here is specific - company leaders and those who make decisions about large investments.
The Intersolar Forum, where the presentations are more practical in nature, is located directly in the pavilions. This year, its cross-cutting theme is systems integration. Among the announced sessions:
- combining photovoltaics with storage for commerce and industry;
- grid-forming inverters as the basis of a stable grid with a high share of renewables;
- power-to-heat bundle based on panels, batteries and infrared heaters;
- artificial intelligence in station maintenance and why data quality matters here, not the algorithms themselves.
It is worth mentioning separately the special Renewables 24/7 exhibition, dedicated to the round-the-clock supply of energy from renewable sources, and the Intersolar Award, which is traditionally awarded to the most interesting products and projects of the year.
Briefly about the main topics around which the entire 2026 exhibition is built, they are: the application of artificial intelligence at all stages of the photovoltaic chain, agrovoltaics (stations above farmland), floating power plants, building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV), hybrid storage systems and cybersecurity of solar inverters. The last topic is especially relevant for us - we have already written separately about the risks of remote access to inverters.
The full list of exhibitors is huge every year and is updated on the official website intersolar.de right up until the opening. But the presence of brands that are well known to Ukrainian buyers has already been confirmed.
Thus, the distributor Krannich Solar will present solutions from Huawei, Sungrow, GoodWe, Fronius, SMA, SolarEdge, LONGi, AIKO, BYD, VARTA, Sunwoda, KACO, K2 Systems and Axitec in Hall A4. Solis will have a separate stand in Hall B3. This is far from an exhaustive list - other well-known manufacturers of inverters and panels, whose products we supply, are also traditionally represented on the site.
For us, Intersolar is primarily an opportunity to see new models in advance, evaluate which technologies are being put into production, and select equipment with a confirmed supply chain and official warranty for Ukrainian customers. That is why we are closely following what is happening in Munich, and we will later tell you the most interesting things here, on the blog.
