AJAX TURRETCAM (5 MP/2.8 MM) - POE IP CAMERA
Description Ajax TurretCam
A versatile camera, not a single-use tool
TurretCam is the base model in Ajax's turret lineup, built not for one narrow scenario like "perimeter only" or "entrance only," but for a wide range of typical spots: a room, a courtyard, a shop floor, an office, a restaurant. The manufacturer positions it explicitly as a general-purpose camera, and the spec sheet backs that up — there's no narrow limitation that would make you think twice before installing it in a given spot.
Continuous recording as a real feature, not a side effect
Unlike cameras that only record on a motion trigger, TurretCam supports continuous recording — a constant video archive regardless of whether the analytics flagged an event. For a shop floor or restaurant, that matters: if a dispute with a customer or some incident happens that motion analytics might not classify as an "event," continuous recording still keeps footage of that moment. That sets TurretCam apart from purely "alert-driven" security cameras.
5 MP and smart detection — the same base as the rest of the lineup
The 5 MP sensor with a 2.8 mm lens and analytics that tell people, vehicles, and animals apart are identical across the lineup: the image is sharp enough to identify a face at close range, and alerts come in for genuine events rather than every branch swaying outside a window or passing cloud shadow. H.264/H.265 encoding and microSD support up to 256 GB let you keep an archive without swapping cards constantly.
PoE: one cable, one mounting point
Power over Ethernet (12 V, around 7.2 W) makes installation equally simple in an office or a courtyard: one cable carries both power and video, with no dependency on a nearby outlet or on Wi-Fi coverage, which is often unreliable inside a building with concrete walls or the metal shelving of a shop floor.
IP65 — enough for a courtyard, porch, or canopy
An IP65 rating and an operating range of -30°C to +60°C cover typical semi-sheltered and open spots: a courtyard, a stairwell entrance, a porch, parking near a shop. That's a slightly different protection level than the IP66-rated flagship models in the lineup, but plenty for most of the scenarios the manufacturer lists as recommended use cases.
Ajax hub integration and a single app
TurretCam pairs with an Ajax hub and detectors: footage can be linked to a motion sensor trigger or a door contact opening, and reviewed in the same app on Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android that shows the status of the whole security system. Both cloud and local storage are supported — the choice is up to the site owner.
Practical economics for covering several spots at once
Thanks to its versatility, TurretCam fits well on sites where several zones need the same camera model at once — a shop floor, a storage area, and a parking lot, for example — without having to pick a different model for each spot. That simplifies both installation and ongoing maintenance of the system.
Who this model is for
TurretCam is a sound choice for a business or homeowner who needs a reliable PoE camera with continuous recording and accurate event detection across several typical spots at once, without paying extra for narrow features a given site simply won't use.
