Ajax ReX 2 - relay, signalling amplifier for Ajax system
Description Ajax ReX 2
Imagine a typical situation: the hub is in the control room on the first floor, and the opening sensor is in the attic or in the workshop in the back of the yard. Formally, everything is within the passport range, but between them there are three reinforced concrete floors or a dozen meters of street, and the connection is either there or disappears. ReX 2 exists for such cases. The repeater is placed approximately in the middle of the problem area: it catches the signal from remote sensors, amplifies it and transmits it further to the hub, effectively doubling the system coverage.
Where to put it?
The rule is simple - ReX 2 must reliably "hear" both the hub and those sensors that previously "failed". This can be a stairwell between floors, a wall closer to the outbuilding, a corridor connecting the main house with an extension. One Ajax hub holds up to five such repeaters at the same time, so even a large area with a complex layout can be covered without unnecessary compromises. The radio range in open areas is up to 1700 meters.
The most common mistake is to determine the location "by eye". In practice, it is worth using the signal level test built into the Ajax application: install the repeater, run the test and make sure that both the connection with the hub and the connection with remote sensors show a stable two or three divisions. Two mistakes occur again and again - the repeater is mounted close to the hub (where nothing changes from it) or close to the problematic sensor (from where it also does not reach the hub itself). The optimal point is where both connections are confidently kept "in the green zone".
Not just for motion sensors
ReX 2 works with not one protocol, but three at once: Jeweller for regular sensors, Wings for image transmission (so that photo confirmation from cameras also reaches the hub through the extended zone), and Fibra for wired devices. That is, through one repeater, you expand the connection for different types of equipment, not just for classic opening and motion detectors.
What about the reliability of communication and power?
The device is powered by a 110–240 V mains, but has a built-in 2 A·h Li-ion battery - this is enough for about 38 hours of independent operation when the power goes out. For regions with unstable power supply, this is no small matter: the repeater does not "fall out" of the system along with the rest of the house. All radio communication is encrypted using a block algorithm with a floating key, and frequency hopping protects against jamming attempts - a constant change in the operating frequency, due to which it is almost impossible to blindly jam the channel. A 12 V backup power supply is also provided.
Briefly about the main things: Jeweller / Wings / Fibra protocols, compatibility with Hub 2 (2G/4G), Hub 2 Plus and Hub Hybrid (2G/4G), IP20 housing for indoor use, weight 330 g, 24-month warranty.
The model is available in black and white, in "new" and "commissioned" condition. Commissioned units are service-tested working devices with a guarantee at a lower price, a smart option when you need several repeaters for an object and want to stay within the budget. If you are not sure how much ReX 2 will cover your area - write us the parameters of the object, we will calculate together.
