GoodWe GW225KN-HT - three-phase grid-tied inverter 225 kW.
Description GoodWe GW225KN-HT
GoodWe GW225KN-HT is a utility-scale three-phase grid-tied inverter rated at 225 kW, the N variant of the HT range. Six MPPT inputs of three strings each (eighteen strings total), DC voltage up to 1500 V, output 800 V without neutral. Efficiency 99.0% peak, 98.7% European weighted. Operation from -30 °C up to 5000 m. IP66, 5-year warranty.
The N variant: fewer trackers, more strings per tracker
Unlike the base GW225K-HT with twelve MPPT inputs of two strings each, the N variant has six inputs of three strings — eighteen strings instead of twenty-four, but each input is sized for higher current.
This is not a lesser configuration but a different philosophy for a different site type. For a uniform ground-mounted station field, where most array sections share the same orientation and pitch, fewer large trackers work just as effectively as many small ones, while simplifying the DC cable layout.
The minimum input current here is 60 amperes against 30 in the base model — sized for longer, higher-power strings typical of regular module fields without architectural obstructions.

98.7% European efficiency — slightly above the base model
A difference of 0.2 percentage points in European efficiency (98.7% against 98.5%) looks minor, but at the scale of a multi-megawatt power plant it turns into tens of extra megawatt-hours every year.
Fewer trackers mean fewer internal conversion stages between panel and output, giving a small but consistent efficiency edge specifically under uniform load.
When to choose N and when the base model
The N variant suits regular ground-mounted station fields without significant fragmentation — flat land, one pitch, one orientation across the whole area.
The base model with twelve two-string trackers remains the better choice for sites with more complex geometry — industrial building roofs, plots with terrain variation or partial shading.
Monitoring and parallel operation
The standard SEMS Portal app shows generation from each of the eighteen strings separately; Modbus TCP and RTU are available for integration with dispatch systems.
Units connect in parallel to form megawatt-scale stations with centralised monitoring of the whole array.
Protection class IP66 and an operating range from -30 to +60 °C allow the unit to be sited outdoors on a ground-mounted station site without extra shelter, and a maximum operating altitude of 5000 metres covers even foothill sites.
The N variant is the optimal choice for large uniform ground-mounted station fields. Describe your site's configuration: we will calculate whether the N variant wins over the base model for your specific project.
