GoodWe GW3600-DNS-30 - single-phase grid-tied inverter 3.6 kW.
Description GoodWe GW3600-DNS-30
GoodWe GW3600-DNS-30 is a single-phase grid-tied inverter rated at 3.6 kW with two independent MPPT inputs. Peak efficiency 98%, MPP range 40–560 V, nominal output current 15.7 A. Mass 12.8 kg, dimensions 350 × 410 × 143 mm, IP65 protection, 5-year warranty.
The key difference from the XS series
The smaller series at the same rating has one MPPT input; this one has two. The price difference is not large, but the capability difference is fundamental.
Two inputs mean the panel array can be split into two independent groups. Each works in its own regime: if one is shaded or faces a different direction, the other continues delivering its maximum. With a single input the whole installation adapts to the worst panel in the string.
The second difference is efficiency. Peak efficiency here is 98% against 97.2% in the XS series. Expressed as losses, that difference is more significant than the percentages themselves suggest.
Which roofs this suits
Three point six kilowatts is roughly nine or ten panels. Placing that many on a single even slope is not always possible, and this is exactly where two inputs rescue the design.
Typical two-group configurations
a dual-pitch roof — some panels east, some west: morning and evening sun work in turn and the generation peak stretches across the whole day;
a roof with a chimney or dormer window — the shaded group is separated from the clear one;
differing tilt angles — the main slope and an extension, for example;
phased expansion — the first stage on one input, the second added later on the other.
What 98% efficiency delivers
Peak efficiency of 98% and a European weighted figure of 97.3% are strong results for this class. What matters more is understanding how to read them.
The European weighted figure accounts for operation at different load levels through the day, with weighting coefficients reflecting the real distribution of irradiance. It is a more honest number than the peak value, which is reached only under ideal conditions.
Combined with MPPT tracking accuracy above 99%, this means the inverter draws almost everything the panels can give and passes almost all of it to the grid. Conversion losses stay within two to three per cent.
Technical specifications and conditions
Start-up voltage 80 V, maximum input 600 V, MPP range 40–560 V. Nominal current 15.7 A, maximum output 17.3 A. Output harmonic distortion below 3%.
Natural-convection cooling with a noise level under 25 dB. IP65 protection, aluminium alloy housing, operation from −25 to +60 °C, humidity to 100%, altitude to 4000 metres.
Integrated DC switch, Type II surge protection on both sides, earth fault monitoring, reverse polarity and short circuit protection. Monitoring over Wi-Fi or LAN in SEMS Portal, integration via Modbus TCP/RTU, Home Assistant support.
To establish whether you need two MPPT inputs, photographs of the roof from several angles are enough. Send them over — we will look at slope orientations and possible shading and tell you which configuration yields more generation for the same money.
