GoodWe GW2000-XS-30 - single-phase grid-tied inverter 2 kW.
Description GoodWe GW2000-XS-30
GoodWe GW2000-XS-30 is a single-phase grid-tied inverter rated at 2 kW. Nominal apparent power 2000 VA, output current 8.7 A at 230 volts, one MPPT input with a 40–550 V range. Mass 4.6 kg, dimensions 218 × 306 × 119 mm, IP65 protection, 5-year warranty.
Two kilowatts as an entry point into solar
For many homeowners this rating becomes the first step. The reason is not only budget: an installation of this size needs no complex design, fits on a small roof slope and connects to an ordinary single-phase supply without capacity approvals.
Six or seven panels, one inverter, a few days of installation — and the property begins generating its own energy. If the wish to expand appears later, the experience gained helps design the next stage knowingly, based on actual generation figures rather than estimates.
What that means in real kilowatt-hours
Two kilowatts of installed capacity yields roughly two thousand kilowatt-hours a year in this region's conditions. That is an average figure: in summer the installation generates considerably more, in winter several times less.
In daily terms that is around eight to ten kilowatt-hours on a clear summer day and one and a half to two in winter. The key question is not how much is generated but what share is consumed on site: self-consumption is what determines the economics, because every self-generated kilowatt-hour displaces one bought at the full tariff.
One MPPT input: when that is not a limitation
The inverter has a single maximum power point tracking channel. For an installation of six or seven panels that is usually not a problem — such a number of modules can almost always be placed on one slope with a single orientation.
Difficulties begin where the array has to be divided: some panels facing east, some south, or one module falling into the shadow of a chimney. In such a configuration the whole group adapts to the worst panel. If your roof is like that, consider models with two inputs — they allow the array to be split into independent groups.
Technical specifications
peak efficiency 97.2%, European weighted 96.7%;
maximum power point tracking accuracy above 99%;
start-up voltage 40 V, maximum input 600 V;
nominal current 8.7 A, maximum output 9.6 A;
harmonic distortion below 3%, standby consumption under 1 W;
noise level under 20 dB, natural-convection cooling.
Installation conditions and protection
IP65 protection and an aluminium alloy housing permit outdoor mounting — on an exterior wall, under a canopy, on a support structure. The operating range is −25 to +60 °C, permissible humidity up to 100% non-condensing, with operation at altitudes to 4000 metres.
The unit has an integrated DC switch, Type II surge protection on both sides, earth fault monitoring, and protection against reverse polarity and short circuit. Panels connect via MC4 connectors, the grid through a terminal block.
Monitoring is available over Wi-Fi or LAN through the SEMS Portal app, with Modbus TCP/RTU and Home Assistant support. Certification: CE, IEC 62109-1/2, IEC 62116, IEC 61727, EN 50549.
If you are only beginning to look at solar and would rather not commit a large sum straight away, send us your electricity bill and a photo of the roof. We will calculate what this installation would save specifically for you, and whether starting at two kilowatts makes sense.
