GoodWe GW1500-XS-30 - single-phase grid-tied inverter 1.5 kW.
Description GoodWe GW1500-XS-30
GoodWe GW1500-XS-30 is a single-phase grid-tied inverter rated at 1.5 kW with one MPPT input. Nominal apparent power 1500 VA, output current 6.5 A at 230 volts. Mass 4.6 kg, dimensions 218 × 306 × 119 mm, IP65 protection, 5-year warranty.
One and a half kilowatts: when that is enough
This rating corresponds to roughly four or five modern panels. It sounds modest, but over a sunny day such an installation generates six to eight kilowatt-hours — as much as an economical household spends in a day on everything except heating and hot water.
Typical applications: covering a house's base daytime consumption (refrigerator, router, lighting, circulation pump), powering irrigation and garden lighting, or supporting a small workshop or an office with a few workstations.
Why a small installation pays back no worse than a large one
A common belief holds that the bigger the installation, the faster the payback. In reality everything depends on how much of what you generate you consume yourself.
Picture a house drawing one kilowatt from the grid during the day. A 1.5 kW installation will cover that consumption almost entirely, and every kilowatt-hour generated displaces one bought at the full tariff. A 5 kW installation will generate three times as much, but the surplus will either be exported at a lower price or lost.
The correct approach, therefore, is to size against your own daytime consumption rather than the roof area. It often turns out that a smaller installation gives a better return per unit invested.
A 40 volt start-up threshold
The inverter begins working at just 40 volts on the input and holds an MPPT range from 40 to 550 V. That is among the lowest thresholds in its class.
For a small installation of four or five panels this is particularly valuable: with few modules the array's total voltage is low, and a unit with a high start-up threshold simply will not begin working in weak light. Here the margin is sufficient for the installation to start early in the morning and not shut down when clouds pass.
Quiet and maintenance-free
noise level under 20 dB — passive cooling with no fans;
standby consumption under 1 W;
aluminium alloy housing, IP65 protection;
operation from −25 to +60 °C, humidity to 100%, altitude to 4000 m;
no filters to clean and no moving parts to wear.
Protection and monitoring
An integrated DC switch removes the need for a separate device in the board. Type II surge protection works on both sides, with earth fault monitoring and protection against reverse polarity and short circuit.
Monitoring is available over Wi-Fi or wired LAN through the SEMS Portal app. Integration over Modbus TCP/RTU and operation with Home Assistant are supported, so generation data can be fed into an existing smart home system.
Certification: CE, IEC 62109-1/2, IEC 62116, IEC 61727, EN 50549. Five-year manufacturer warranty.
To establish whether this is the right size for you, look at your electricity bill and estimate daytime consumption. Send us those figures along with the available roof area — we will calculate the optimal configuration without paying for capacity you do not need.
