GoodWe GMK110D is a single-phase energy meter in the 'D' variant for 220/230/240 V networks. The device is intended to work alongside GoodWe inverters, serving as the measuring node at a site's incoming supply. One DIN rail module (19 mm), 50 grams, white polycarbonate housing, operating temperature from −25 to +60 °C.
What the meter measures within a solar system
This is not the meter you pay your supplier by — that one sits at the boundary of ownership and belongs to the network company. This device performs a different function: it is your own system's sensory organ.
It records three values the inverter cannot measure by itself: the site's real consumption at each moment, the direction of energy flow and its quantity. On that basis the system decides where to direct generated energy — to the load, to the battery, or, where permitted, to the grid.
Why the main saving does not work without it
The benefit of a solar installation comes not from how much the panels produced but from how much of that production you consumed yourself. A purchased kilowatt costs the full tariff price; your own costs nothing.
To maximise that share the system must know current consumption precisely. Without a meter the inverter is forced to work on simplified logic, and part of the energy inevitably goes where it should not: either into the grid at an unfavourable price, or simply never gets generated.
One module in the board
A width of 19 mm equals a standard single-pole breaker. Such a gap is almost always available even in boards assembled many years ago, so installation requires neither replacing the enclosure nor rearranging the equipment.
A mass of 50 grams and DIN rail mounting make fitting a matter of minutes — provided, of course, that the supply is isolated and the connection diagram from the manufacturer's documentation is followed.

Where exactly this meter is installed
The mounting position determines what the device will actually see, and an error here devalues the whole exercise. The meter must sit so that the entire flow between the site and the grid passes through it — that is, at the incoming supply, before the split into circuit groups.
Install it after the inverter's connection point and it will register only part of the picture, leaving the system to manage generation on incomplete data. This mistake happens more often than you might think and gives no outward sign: the equipment runs, readings appear, but the expected saving does not materialise. Check the connection diagram against the documentation before work starts, not after.
Important to verify before ordering
Within the series, meters differ in how the measuring circuit is connected and in maximum current. These parameters determine whether the device suits your particular supply, and they are exactly what should be clarified before purchase.
The second question is compatibility with your specific inverter model. The manufacturer publishes a list of supported devices, and it is better to check it in advance than to discover during commissioning that data exchange will not establish.
