A recorder and a switch in one housing — 16 ports at once
RLN16-410 has 16 built-in PoE ports, so 16 cameras connect directly to the recorder with a single Ethernet cable each — no separate network switch, no extra power supplies per camera, no additional point of failure between camera and recorder. The total recording channel count still reaches 24: 16 over built-in PoE, with the rest available for cameras connected another way, say over an existing network.
Two drive bays instead of one — and no drive included
This version ships with no hard drive, and that's a deliberate choice rather than a shortcoming: two HDD bays up to 8 TB each let an owner pick storage that actually matches their retention requirements, rather than paying for whatever drive the manufacturer happened to bundle by default.
