The moment the on-board analytics classifies a human or a vehicle in the frame, the white light switches on and the image turns full colour, so instead of a dark silhouette you get footage showing that the jacket was blue and the shoulder bag red. That difference becomes decisive when the recording has to be handed to the police or an insurer, because a witness describes the colour of the clothes and of the car, and a monochrome frame cannot confirm such a description. There is a side effect that often turns out to be the main one: a sudden burst of white light tells an unwanted visitor directly that he has been seen, and a fair share of attempts to enter a yard ends exactly at that point.

Two megapixels and a 103° angle: what you actually get in frame

A 1/2.9" sensor with 1920×1080 resolution paired with a 2.8 mm F1.6 lens produces a 103° horizontal and 56° vertical field of view, which is enough for one camera to cover a typical house yard or a small retail floor in its entirety.
