DigiTOP VP-40A M2R voltage relay (40A, red indicator)
Description DigiTOP VP-40A M2R
A hot July day, the air conditioner is running at full blast, the boiler is heating in the bathroom, the refrigerator and kettle are in the kitchen. It is at such moments of peak load that the network is most vulnerable to surges, and that is when the 40 A relay proves its usefulness. VP-40A M2R is a version of this model with a red status indicator: protection, current and the entire electrical part are identical to the M2W, the only difference is the color of the backlight on the panel.
Re-enable delay - why it matters here
In a 40 A panel, there is almost always compressor equipment: an air conditioner, an indirect heating boiler, a refrigerator. The compressor is the most vulnerable node when power is restored. If you apply voltage back immediately after a shutdown, the piston tries to move the column of refrigerant under pressure, and this quickly kills the motor. The adjustable re-activation delay (5–600 seconds) allows the system to properly "exhale" before a new start. Therefore, in a relay of this rating, the delay function is not a formality, but what many people install it for.
Thresholds and protection
Measurement range 50–400 V, upper threshold 210–270 V, lower 120–200 V. Overvoltage — shutdown in 0.02 seconds; undervoltage in the zone 120–170 V — with a one-second delay against false alarms. Zero transit insures against the most serious accident — a break in the neutral conductor. Operation at unstable frequency — for facilities with a generator.
Red or white - and how not to make a mistake when installing
The color of the indication is purely practical: when there are several relays in the panel for different groups, the red M2R is easy to distinguish from the white M2W at a glance, even in the semi-darkness. This does not affect the functionality. And the main advice during installation is the same for all relays in the series - before the first power-up, check that the phase and zero are connected to the correct terminals: it is the mixed wires that are most often the cause of incorrect operation of the newly mounted device. Rating 40 A (≈8.8 kW), DIN rail, 2 modules, 5-year warranty.
What happens after triggering?
It is useful to understand the logic of operation so as not to worry unnecessarily. When the voltage exceeds the limits, the relay opens the load and lights the indicator - this is normal operation, not a breakdown. As soon as the voltage returns to a safe range, the relay does not turn on immediately, but counts down the delay you set (5–600 seconds) and only then automatically restores the power. That is, after a short jump, you do not need to run to the switchboard and switch something manually - the system will restore itself. The indicator also indicates the status: it shows whether everything is fine or whether the relay is currently "keeping" the network de-energized, waiting for normalization. The red color of this version is easy to read even from afar in a semi-dark switchboard room. This approach with automatic restoration is especially convenient when the house is left unattended from time to time: after each jump, the network returns to working condition itself, and you do not have to specially go to "raise" the switchboard. Over the years of operation, this saves a lot of nerves and trips, especially if the cottage or country house is far from the city and you can't visit there quickly.
