GoodWe ES Uniq 8–12 kW (GW8000/10K/12K-ES-C10) — hybrid inverters for home solar, backup power and smart energy
The GoodWe ES Uniq 8–12 kW range includes single-phase, low-voltage (48 V) hybrid inverters designed for residential PV systems where self-consumption, reliable backup, generator support and load management matter. The series features two MPPT trackers, supports PV oversizing up to 200%, fast UPS-level transfer < 4 ms, microgrid operation, and parallel connection of up to 6 inverters to scale system power.

Integration with Home Assistant and openHAB (OpenHub)
ES Uniq offers interfaces and protocols commonly used in smart-home energy systems: RS485, Wi-Fi/LAN/Bluetooth, plus Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP. This enables telemetry (PV/grid/battery/load), automations and energy monitoring.

Home Assistant: the GoodWe Inverter integration can be used for local monitoring and energy-flow sensors.

openHAB: a typical setup uses the Modbus Binding (Modbus TCP and serial RTU), exposing inverter data as Items for rules and scenes.
Automation examples

“Savings”: enable water heater/floor heating/EV charging when PV exceeds a threshold and battery SOC is sufficient.

“Backup”: on grid outage, shed non-critical circuits while keeping critical loads (internet, boiler, fridge).

“Generator”: start/stop a generator based on battery SOC or a timer (when GEN port control is used within an approved wiring/configuration).
Inverter, battery and generator connection should be done by a qualified electrician.
External generator support: what types and what power
ES Uniq accepts a single-phase generator 220/230/240 V with an input voltage range of 170–280 V and 50/60 Hzfrequency (45–55 / 55–65 Hz). In practice, single-phase gasoline or diesel generators with stable voltage/frequency regulation (AVR or inverter-type preferred) are suitable, as long as they match the limits below.
Sizing guidance: use rated apparent power (kVA) aligned with the inverter model and keep headroom for peak loads.

PV side: MPPT, strings and maximum PV power
The 8–12 kW models use two MPPT trackers. Maximum PV power: 16 kW (8 kW model) / 20 kW (10 kW) / 24 kW (12 kW), PV input voltage up to 600 V, MPPT operating range 60–550 V.
Batteries: power, current and compatible options
ES Uniq supports 48 V battery systems (range 40–60 V) and works with Li-ion and lead-acid batteries. Maximum continuous charge/discharge currents: 160 A / 200 A / 240 A (8/10/12 kW). Max charge power: 8 / 10 / 12 kW, discharge up to 8.8 / 11 / 13.2 kW (per datasheet limits).

For installation, practical parameters matter: wall-mount design, dimensions 560×444.5×226 mm, weight 27–29 kg, IP66 protection. This simplifies mounting in a utility room or on a protected exterior wall.
If demand grows (home + workshop, electric heating, EV charging), the series supports parallel operation of up to 6 inverters, enabling higher power without replacing the entire system.
