IMOU Cue 2 IPC-C32EP - video surveillance camera with Ajax support, Wi-Fi, 3MP (2.8mm)
Description IMOU Cue 2 IPC-C32EP
The Imou Cue 2 IPC-C32EP Wi-Fi IP video camera, 3MP (2.8 mm) is a compact indoor camera that can be placed on a shelf, table, or mounted on a wall and immediately get full video surveillance in an apartment, house, or small business.
Briefly about the model
Cue 2 is built on a 1/3" CMOS matrix with a resolution of 3 MP (2304×1296) and produces up to 25 frames/s, so the picture is clear, with normal readability of faces and small details.
The fixed 2.8 mm lens provides a viewing angle of approximately 112° horizontally, so one camera is usually enough for a medium-sized room or small office.
Built-in IR illumination provides black and white night vision up to 10 m, the camera can normally "see" a room in complete darkness.
Power supply — 5 V (included power supply), consumption about 5 W, operating temperature from –10 to +45 °C — a typical range for indoor use.
Key technical features
-
3 MP 2K video (2304×1296) at 25 fps — a margin of detail compared to classic 2 MP.
-
H.265/H.264 codec — saves space on the memory card and reduces network load without noticeable loss of quality.
-
IR illumination up to 10 m with automatic day/night transition.
-
Two-way audio communication: built-in microphone and speaker - you can not only hear, but also speak into the camera.
-
Built-in siren and sound analysis - the camera can emit a loud signal and send a push when an "abnormal sound" is detected (scream, impact, broken glass).
-
Onboard analytics: motion detection, human detection, customized detection area.
-
Recording to microSD up to 512 GB, NVR or Imou Cloud — three independent archive storage options.
-
Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz (IEEE 802.11b/g/n/ax) — stable connection to your home router without laying a cable.
-
ONVIF compatibility and support for working with NVRs - the camera integrates with most recorders and third-party video surveillance systems.
User benefits
-
Clear picture day and night
3 MP allows you to zoom in on a video fragment and still see details: faces, what's on the table, small objects near the door. This is important when you have to sort out a controversial situation or look for a moment of penetration. -
Minimum false alarms
Human detection and a separately configured motion zone help filter out “shaking curtains” or a cat on the windowsill. The user receives a notification when a person appears in the frame or when movement occurs in a critical area — for example, near the entrance or safe. -
Voice channel and siren
Through the Imou Life app, you can say a few words to your child, a courier, or, conversely, loudly address a stranger and simultaneously turn on the siren. In many cases, this is enough to scare away a random "researcher" in the office or a neighbor who decided to enter the wrong entrance. -
Flexible archive
For some, a 64–128 GB card is enough, while others install a microSD up to 512 GB and get several weeks of continuous recording. If you need a centralized archive, the camera easily works with an NVR or the Imou cloud. -
Remote access and easy launch
Connection is via the Imou Life app: scan the QR code, connect the camera to Wi-Fi, and within a minute, the live video stream, archive, and settings are available.
Recommended usage scenarios
-
Apartment or house
Control the entrance to the apartment, living room, nursery, corridor. You can see who has returned home, whether the repairman has arrived, how the nanny or cleaning lady is behaving. -
Home office/study
Surveillance of the place where equipment, documents, and a safe are stored. The camera will "see" the night visit and create video evidence. -
Small business
A small store, reception, cash register, mini-warehouse. The owner can use his phone to see what is happening, how the staff is working, and whether there are any suspicious activities near the cash register. -
Monitoring children and elderly relatives
Two-way communication makes it possible to react quickly: ask if everything is okay, check how the child is doing his homework, or whether medical workers have come to the parents.
Assembly and installation recommendations
Imou Cue 2 is a desktop/wall-mounted camera. It can be simply placed on a horizontal surface or mounted on a wall with the included bracket. Key recommendations from an engineer's perspective:
-
A height of 2–2.5 m is optimal for room scanning and face recognition.
-
Not in front of a window: strong backlight reduces detail, it is better to move the camera to the side.
-
In a stable Wi-Fi area: it is desirable to see at least 2–3 “divisions” on the smartphone at the installation point.
-
Away from heating appliances and high humidity - do not place directly above the radiator or close to the shower, this is an internal chamber.
-
Power supply: the 5 V power supply is connected to 220 V, it is worth providing a socket or extension cord so that the cable does not hang in the passage.
If you plan to record on an NVR, it is better to check the Wi-Fi quality at the installation location in advance or connect the camera via cable (if your scenario allows it).
Compatibility with Ajax security system
Imou Cue 2 supports ONVIF protocol and work with NVR, and also has an RTSP stream that can be used in third-party systems.
Ajax officially allows you to connect any IP cameras with RTSP to your application, as well as work with cameras through DVRs with ONVIF support.
In practice, this gives two options:
-
Directly adding a camera to an Ajax application
You get an RTSP link from the Imou web interface/app, add it in the Ajax app as a third-party RTSP camera — and the video is available alongside the security system events. -
Via Ajax NVR or other ONVIF recorder
The camera connects to the NVR, and the recorder itself integrates with Ajax. As a result, the application provides: a full archive, alarm timeline, and video binding to zones and sensors.
Many integrators and stores directly offer the Ajax StarterKit + Imou Cue 2 kits, which confirms their practical compatibility as a "security + video" solution.
What problems does the user solve?
-
Visual verification of Ajax alarms
When a motion or opening sensor is triggered, you immediately open the video and see what really happened: did the family forget to turn off the security system or is it a real attack? -
Access control to homes and businesses
The camera records who entered and left, at what time, and how staff or visitors behaved. This is useful when investigating thefts or conflict situations with customers. -
Monitoring loved ones
You can check on the well-being of a child left alone or an elderly relative. If necessary, talk immediately via two-way communication. -
Incident prevention
The built-in siren and motion/sound notifications allow you to react before the situation becomes a problem: stop an unwanted guest, go out to meet the courier, ask the staff to monitor the hall more carefully. -
Savings on security services
In simple scenarios, Cue 2 partially replaces “video security”: the user sees what is happening and makes decisions without overpaying for constant response teams.
Imou Cue 2 IPC-C32EP is a workhorse for home and small commercial video surveillance: sufficient detail, a normal set of analytics, a convenient mobile application, and the ability to integrate with Ajax to build a unified security system without complex settings.
