Solplanet batteries: how to choose the perfect one for the solar system

If you are planning a solar power plant with a Solplanet hybrid inverter , the battery is a key element for independence from the grid. The Solplanet brand (from AISWEI) offers reliable LiFePO4 batteries that are safe, durable and fully integrated with their own inverters. They are ideal for private homes, summer cottages and small commercial facilities.

Considering the fact that Solplanet is a relatively young brand on the Ukrainian market, about which there is not as much information as, for example, about Deye, users have many questions regarding batteries. Not everyone understands which batteries to use, how and in what scenarios.

In this article, we will analyze what Solplanet batteries are, how low-voltage ones differ from high-voltage ones, how to choose the right capacity, and which inverters they are compatible with. Installation experience shows that the right choice of battery saves on bills and guarantees 10+ years of stable operation.

Types of Solplanet batteries

Solplanet produces two main lines:

Low voltage (LV, ~48–51.2 V)

  • Main models: ASW5120-LB-E, ASW5120-LB-G3
  • The capacity of one module is 5.12 kWh.
  • You can connect up to 32 units in parallel (up to 163 kWh).
  • IP65/IP66, built-in fire extinguishing (in G3), BMS with cellular monitoring.

Previous generations:

  • Ai-LB, Ai-LB Pro, Ai-LB G2 - These models are gradually being replaced by the ASW5120-LB series.

High voltage (HV, 100–400+ V)

  • Main series: Ai-HB G2 (2.56 kWh modules).
  • One tower — up to 8 modules (20.48 kWh).
  • Up to 163 kWh in total with the ASW1000-CB-HB combiner box.
  • IP65, modular design with plug-in connection.

All batteries are LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate). This means: zero risk of fire, over 6000 charge-discharge cycles (80–95% DoD), operating temperature from -5°C (charging) and a 10-year warranty.

regime temperature
charge 0…50°C
discharge -10…50°C

The difference between low voltage and high voltage batteries

Low-voltage — simpler and cheaper to start. Suitable for single-phase systems with a capacity of 3–12 kW. Minus: with a large capacity, the current is higher, thicker cables are required (25–50 mm²), depending on the power and current.

power cable
5–8 kW 25–35 mm²
10–12 kW 35–50 mm²

Plus: easier to install, ideal for summer cottages and houses up to 150–200 m².

High-voltage - more efficient for powerful systems. The current is 3-5 times lower, so the cables are thinner, losses are 2-4% lower. Better for three-phase inverters and large houses (from 200 m²) or commerce. Minus: more expensive starter kit and requires a combiner for parallel connection.

In practice: if your daily consumption is 10–15 kWh and the inverter is single-phase, take LV. If 20+ kWh and a three-phase network, HV will pay for itself faster due to efficiency.

How to choose the right battery for your solution

  1. Calculate the real need Take the average daily consumption (from the meter) + 20% reserve. For example, 12 kWh per day - 10–15 kWh of battery is enough. Do not exceed 50–70% of the capacity for the daily cycle - this will last 12–15 years.
  2. The type of inverter decides everything
    • Single-phase (ASW 3-6K H-S2 or ASW 008/010K-SH) → low-voltage batteries only.
    • Three-phase (ASW 5-12kH-T2/T3) → high-voltage Ai-HB G2.
    • All-in-one ASW AS series — usually LV.
  3. The installation location of LV and HV is both IP65, can be outdoors. But the G3 series with fire extinguishing is the best choice for a garage or boiler room.
  4. Budget and expansion Start with 1-2 modules. Solplanet allows you to add batteries without replacing the inverter - the BMS automatically recognizes the new units.

My recommendation as an installer: for 90% of homes with a single-phase hybrid of 5–8 kW, the ASW5120-LB-E or G3 (5.12 kWh each) is optimal. If you plan on three-phase or a capacity of more than 10 kW, take the Ai-HB G2. Full compatibility with the Solplanet ecosystem provides stable application operation, accurate SOC, and quick diagnostics.

Compatibility with Solplanet inverters

The manufacturer officially confirms the full compatibility of its own batteries with hybrid inverters (see Compatibility List on solplanet.net).

  • LV batteries work with single-phase H-S2 and SH series without additional settings.
  • HV - only with three-phase T2/T3 (requires combiner box for parallel).

Compatibility with other brands is limited - it is better not to risk the warranty. All batteries are connected via CAN/RS485, the inverter automatically recognizes the model.

Conclusion: Solplanet is a reliable choice for Ukraine

Solplanet batteries are not just energy storage, but a smart system with top-notch BMS, long service life, and easy expansion. They have already proven their effectiveness in thousands of Ukrainian installations: they provide backup power in winter, and maximize consumption in summer.

If you want maximum return, choose a battery for a specific inverter and real consumption. If you have doubts about the calculation, contact a certified installer: 15 minutes of consultation will save you thousands of hryvnias in errors.
